On this slum tour you will get to know Santo Domingo from a different side. Off the beaten tourist track, you will see the life of the less privileged population and make a small contribution to improving their living conditions. After breakfast, you will be picked up by your driver and taken to the cable car station "Tres Brazos". You will board the cable car, from which you will enjoy a spectacular view, and cross the river "Ozama".

On the other side, the poor neighborhood "Gualey" is waiting for you. The neighborhood is located in the north of the capital on the west bank of the "Ozama". After a short walk from the cable car station (700 m) you will reach the charitable foundation "Rincón de Luz". The foundation has been working for over 16 years in the areas of education, nutrition and health for socially disadvantaged children, youth and seniors. Children from preschool age to the beginning of middle school receive schooling and participate in lunch. At the foundation, you make a food donation (included in the price of the excursion, which will be provided to you in advance). Founder and president Leyda Alvarez will guide you through the premises and present her work. Interactive learning games will give you the opportunity to interact with the school children.

Afterwards you will get a guided tour through "Gualey". You will get an impression of the living conditions in one of the poorest neighborhoods of the Dominican Republic. You will visit the five "Pozos", small lakes fed by natural springs and very popular with the locals. Of course, you are free to do as the locals do and refresh yourself in the crystal clear water. Drinks are available during the hike in the local corner stores called "colmados".

At the end of the tour, you will return to the Foundation for lunch prepared by members of the school children. After lunch, your driver will take you back to your hotel.
